Chef Stephanie Starege has always been destined to be in the culinary field. She comes from a long line of cooks. Born to Jamaican parents and being raised in Georgia brings a unique flare to every meal she prepares. As a child cooking with her uncle, Chef Michael Thelwell, is what initially sparked the culinary fire in her heart.

After graduating from Redan High School in 2005, she attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. While attending school Chef Steph began working as a Prep Cook at Crabby Joe’s Seafood Restaurant in Metter, Georgia. After a few short months she was promoted to Kitchen Manager at the age of 19. This experience proved that cooking was no longer just a hobby it was now her passion, career goal and something that came naturally.

She applied and was accepted to Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina. She completed her externship at The Double Tree South Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon graduating in May 2009, Chef Steph began working at The Cypress Club of Charlotte as a line cook. Three months after graduating she was promoted from line cook to Sous Chef at the Five Star Retirement community. She would go on to work as The Executive Chef at The Cypress of Hilton Head, Kitchen Manager at The Pond House and Sous Chef at Caio Bella in Alpharetta, Georgia.

In the pursuit of providing people with food that truly represents her passion for culinary arts, Chef Steph teamed up with her sister, Shana Starege, to make what always seemed like a dream come true. As a result of this pairing, Another Dirty Apron was born.
